Comparison Between SAT And ACT Test
The ACT test and SAT Test are considered important for admission into the Universities in US. Both the test has the same sections in the question that include Math, reading, writing except for Science and English which is included in SAT.
The basic difference between both SAT Test and ACT Test is that SAT Test is conducted to test that student’s skill to reason where as the ACT Test is conduct to test the knowledge of what the student has learnt at school.
SAT test and the ACT Test are both weigh equally on the balance when it comes to admissions in universities in US. SAT Test is longer which takes three hours and forty five minutes and starts as early as eight in the morning. While ACT Test does not take as much time as SAT Test does as it take about three hours and twenty minutes. The importance given to the subjects vary from SAT Test to the ACT Test.
Math
The math section in the both these papers are easy but trickier in SAT Test. All the math problems in SAT Test are solvable under a minute, if the student is to hold it for more than a minute; it is the fact that the student is confused and is not sure of the shortcut to solve the problem. In ACT test, the questions are more direct and easy but the factor to worry about is the length of the section that is to be solved in a shorter span of time.
Reading
The reading section in SAT Test consists of the vocabulary test where 15 words out of which 9 words are known to any Tom, Dick or Harry and the rest are tough. In ACT Test, there is no dedicated section to test the vocabulary. Comprehension that involves critical reading in the SAT Test is fairly easy as the passage is of all sizes but in Act Test the passages are pretty long. In ACT Test, it has an English section in addition to the reading section which is a test of grammar that is not hard for people with common sense.
Writing
The writing section consists of essays in both the SAT Test and ACT Test but the time allotted for the essays is a bit different as the student appearing for SAT gets 25 minutes where as for ACT Test it is 30 minutes. The topics provided in SAT are more specific than that of ACT which is more general. Whatever the difference both have, it is possible for a student who writes well to get through it with ease.
Science
The science section that is not in SAT Test is a lengthy section where the student has to answer the questions from conclusions of reading charts and passages with scientific jargons. It has 7 passages and 40 questions to answer in just 35 minutes. It checks your interpretation skills in a shorter span of time.
To be frank, a high school student can easily get through an ACT Test with the knowledge he has acquired for school. An extra effort on the English vocabulary and Math, SAT Test will not be tough nut to crack.
