Culinary Courses offered at the Culinary Institute of America
Those with a flair for cooking typically go for culinary courses. No doubt there is no dearth of good culinary institutes offering innovative courses.
But, when it comes to the Culinary Institute of America there is nothing more you can ask about its courses and the quality.
‘The Culinary Institute of America’ is one of the best culinary institutes of the world. It offers different levels of courses in Culinary Arts and Baking and Pastry Arts. Apart from it there are a few certificate level courses too.
Culinary Arts:
The Culinary Institute of America offers bachelor’s and associate level degree courses in culinary arts.
Bachelor of Professional Studies (B.P.S) Degree in Culinary Arts Management- This 38 month long program practically turns the students into a culinary expert. It includes the institute’s famed practical exposure program through an 18-week long internship which is paid one. This course grooms the students to handle posts like executive chef, restaurateur or even a foodservice director.
Associate in Occupational Studies (A.O.S) in Culinary Arts- It is a 21-month course meant for graduates or those seeking a career change. The course takes a hands-on approach towards culinary arts and involves students in an 18-week externship.
Baking and Pastry Arts:
Through these two programs the institute prepares the students to enter the highly competitive world of baking and pastry services.
Bachelor of Professional Studies (B.P.S.) Degree in Baking & Pastry Arts Management- This too is a 38 months course and is primarily meant for those having some experience in baking and pastry. It grooms students for fairly senior jobs like executive chef, bakery café owner and others.
Associate in Occupational Studies (A.O.S.) in Baking & Pastry Arts- This 21-month course again target students having done their degree course or in the midst of a career change.
Apart from these two streams of courses the institute also runs an Associate Degree Program for Advanced Career Experience (ACE) Students. It is a typical CIA program that gives CIA degree in 15 months only, but to students who have fair amount of experience in a culinary job.
The Culinary Institute of America also offers two 30-week certificate programs. These are Accelerated Culinary Arts Certificate Program (ACAP) and Accelerated Wine and Beverage Certificate Program (AWBP).
