The University of Calgary gives two main graduate degrees in economics. These are the Master of Arts (MA) and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees. The University of Calgary has recently also started providing an optional specialization in health economics. The placement statistics are fantastic and students passing out with either the MA or the PhD degrees find enviable employment in industry and academics alike.
Some of the main reasons why graduate studies in economics at the University of Calgary are of such high order are the quality of faculty and the level of research infrastructure present at the university. For the MA program, the minimum requirement for admission is a recognized four-year Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Apart from that, the general GRE score is also given importance. Otherwise they may even be asked to leave the university.
For the PhD program, the basic requirement for admission is that the candidate must ave a Master’s degree in economics and satisfies all the requirements of the MA program mentioned above.
