Harvard University got its name from its first benefactor John Harvard of Charlestown who donated his estate and library for the betterment of American education.

The Harvard University was founded way back in the year 1636 as a private educational institute. The University is one of the top educational institutions not only in the USA but also in the world.

Harvard University is located at Cambridge, Massachusetts, near to Boston. The Harvard University campus is spread in a lavish and mind-boggling 5000 acres of land.

The school color is Crimson and the motto is Veritas, which can be translated as ‘truth’. Harvard University offers a vast number of undergraduate, graduate and special education programs for its students.

Apart from these, the University also has Harvard Extension School, Harvard Summer School and Harvard School of Dental Medicine.

The tuition and other related fee per student at Harvard University is nearly $50724 (tuition fee – $38416). The Harvard University offers nearly $41300 as financial aid package to its students and had an endowment of $27 billion in 2008.

The library at Harvard University has a total collection of 16.2 million volumes. The campus also has many museums such as Harvard Forest, Harvard Museum of Natural History, Art Museum, Peabody Museum, Arnold Arboretum etc.
