  • Flashcards.

They never go out of fashion, do they? Here also, flash cards play a very important role. There is nothing more effective than having the major structures, phrases, words and grammar rules of the Spanish language written on small, convenient, portable cards that you can read any time you want. They will help you to memorize the stuff you need to memorize quickly. They will also help you to keep on refreshing your knowledge of the language repeatedly. This helps in retention.

Also, if there are new nuances of the language you were hitherto unaware of that you come across, make it a point to quickly jot them down on flash cards, and add these new cards to your existing collection and keep reviewing frequently.

  • Movies and television shows.

Grab hold of CDs, DVDs, or whatever you find convenient which has Spanish movies and shows in it. Then put it on your computer or CD/DVD player and watch. Preferably, try to see movies and shows that have English subtitles. Pause and rewind as many times as you need.

The ultimate aim is to catch common Spanish expressions for different situations, learn new word and language constructs and become familiar with the everyday use of the Spanish language.

After you have watched and listened attentively for a substantial amount of time, try to watch movies and shows without subtitles and see if you understand what is being said and meant. If not, go back to videos with subtitles and watch them. You should try to watch as many movies, shows and videos as possible.

  • Take Spanish courses.

Wherever you live, there will be plenty of classes which will teach you the Spanish language. Try to join such a class. Attend regularly and pay attention to what is being taught. Do your homework diligently. You will have a large amount of grasp over Spanish in no time.

  • Group learning.

As a continuation to the last point, try to join a group of people having the same amount of expertise in Spanish as you and learn together. Alternately, you can ask one or more of your friends who has/have interest in learning Spanish to learn with you. This will help you to learn faster.
