London South Bank University London South Bank University was established in the year 1892 as the Borough Polytechnic Institute. This is one of the oldest universities of central London. Borough Polytechnic Institute was later dubbed as London South Bank University (LSBU) as it is situated near southern bank of Thames River.

Using charities and public donations, it was founded as Southwark’s Borough Polytechnic Institute. Later in 1970 and 1990 many other colleges were absorbed to form a university in 1992.Till date the university is continuously serving education for many students.



LSBU is keen of giving good placements to all its students. The technique of teaching is also very practical. Main entrance is on the side of Borough road on the north side of the main campus. There are two other campuses, one at Havering which is opposite to the Harold Wood railway station and the other one is situated at Whipps Cross Hospital in East London. These two campuses are smaller than the main campus.
