Students from across the world apply here for fashion courses at different levels from foundation to undergraduate and postgraduate to research level.
One of these programs is Masters Degree in Fashion Journalism. MA Fashion Journalism is a full time fashion journalism program of 15 months. At academic level it is structured in a way that it presents a perfect amalgamation of cultural ethos and fashion journalism. It can also be pursued in part time mode that takes 30 months.
The course structure is designed in a way that it instills into the students qualities like profound communication skills, both written and visual along with strong research capabilities. Moreover, it provides the students a structure that makes use of manifold frameworks for a kind of liberated study. Students can choose their working area from the tracks between media journalism and theoretical study.
A key feature of the first stage of the course is interaction with visiting speakers from the industry. The very first unit of Understanding Writing focuses heavily on media practices and development of writing skills in the students. Next two units the Rationale of Publishing and Beyond the Grid go deep into the intricacies of associated streams of journalism. These do touch aspects like media markets, production and publishing skills and magazine designs among others.
Rest of the units namely Approaches to Fashion and Contextual Studies focuses heavily on cultural studies. Last of the units Research Methods covers all the research work to be conducted under the course. Second stage of the course needs the students to conceptualize and bring out a major project in Conceptualizing Fashion.
The course demands the students to realize a balance between lectures, tutorials and seminars and independent research and study. Full time students take out four days a week for the study and part time students devote two days a week for the same.
The London School of Fashion charges £4,075 from British and EU students and £12,700 from international students. Students pursuing the course have always been the preferred choice of employers from a vast realm of professional and academic streams associated with fashion.
