Reforms In Higher Education System Is The Key To Nations Economic Growth
Globally, the higher education system needs to undergo reforms, in order to keep pace with the needs of the nation’s productive sectors. Higher education is important for any country, as this can lead to human and social development, and in turn the long term economic development of the country.
The long term growth and welfare of a nation depends on many factors and the educational system is the foremost of them, as high quality men power and a matured work force are the pillars to a nation’s growth. It is as important as the country’s political and military system. It’s not only the educational accomplishment of the country that matters, but the maturity and level of enthusiasm of both private and public educational systems of the country that matters for the long term economic growth.
The first step towards brining reforms in the educational system is, to pioneer the mass higher education system. The motto is to ring in training, talent and creativity within the pupil. The need of the hour is to bring in convergence in the educational system with equal efforts from both the state and the national government, in order to bring in a structured educational system. Although such as system do exist in the developed world such as the US, elsewhere it is a rarity but emerging fast.
An open access system, such as the Bologna process, would eventually bridge the gap between secondary education and university education that exist among the countries. Voluntary collaboration need to be initiated between the institutes and countries in order to bring in harmonization in the educational systems, globally.
With rapid advancements and falling costs of communication, and enhanced transportation, along with better access to internet; the countries have an ideal platform in hand to strengthen mutual cooperation and to create an open knowledge base that span across boundaries. This would also help the students, across the world, to match up their interests and skills to different educational/academic programs in the universities. This in turn would help the institutes to unleash their true potential in transforming themselves into a world class research institutes.
