SIM University is the country’s first and only privately funded university. It has evolved out of the hugely successful SIM Open University Center. Since 1991 more than 6,000 students have graduated from this university. The main advantage of this university is the flexible and modular programs. These are actually fine tuned according to your needs so that you can balance your study life with your other social and familial obligations.
There are four main schools in this university – School of Arts and Social Sciences, School of Business, School of Human Development and Social Services, School of Science and Technology. The university offers courses at all levels – PhD, Master’s, Bachelor’s and Professional Certificate.
The SIM University understands that each individual is unique and hence the university boasts of admission flexibility so that the individual can perform to the full potential. In order to enroll for any of the programs you need to be a Singapore citizen, Permanent resident or a Resident in Singapore. Students opting for Master’s degree program should have at least 2 years of work experience.
The UniSIM – NTUC sponsorship scheme helps the candidates to undertake undergraduate programs in the university and also to develop skills that will be needed in real life. The sponsorship will cover 70% of the total course fee for Singapore Citizens. 60% of the course fees will be covered if any Singapore Permanent Resident applies to study one of the undergraduate programs in SIM University. The award will cover 50% of the course fees of the students who are otherwise not eligible for government subsidy. There are also other sponsorships such as UniSIM – SAFRA sponsorship, UniSIM – HomeTeamNS sponsorship and the UniSIM – STU sponsorship.
The tution fees are more or less similar to other universities. The amount of course fees will actually depend on the number of courses you take up in a particular semester. The course fees will cover all study materials, classes, tutor supervisions, assignments and examinations. However, fees for textbooks and other additional items are excluded from the course fees. Students are sent the bill for the course fee payment at the beginning of each semester. Around 2 weeks time are given to pay up the fees.
