Study at Art Center College of Design, Pasadena

The Art Center College of Design is a private college, located at Pasadena, in California. Founded in 1930 with the name of the Art Center School, the college achieved complete accreditation to Western Association of Schools and Colleges only in 1955. It also got its present name ‘the Art Center College of Design’ in 1965.

Some 1500 students are enrolled in the under-graduate courses of the Art Center College of Design. However, students come here to take part in both graduate and undergraduate courses in various streams of arts and design.



Though it offers a number of courses to its students, the Art Center is hailed at times particularly for its programs in Product Design, Entertainment Design and Transportation Design. Actually, the institute enlarged the no of programs offered to students considerably in the year 1973 and included subjects such as films.

The college operates mainly from two campuses in Pasadena and offers graduate level degrees in the fields of Media Design, Industrial Design, Broadcast Cinema as well as Fine Art among others.

Two campuses of The Art Center in Pasadena are architectural landmarks. The institute shifted to the iconic bridge building of its hillside campus in 1976.

Labeled as an historic monument by the city of Pasadena, the hillside campus was designed by famous architect Craig Ellwood, while the south campus came into being in 2004.
