The Juilliard School prides in being one of the most prominent conservatories of performing arts all over the world.

Juilliard was set up in 1905 by the name of the Institute of Musical Art. At that time the thought behind founding the institute was to lure back the American students, who were getting attracted more and more towards the premiere music academies in Europe, most probably because of the lack of a good music academy in America.

In its real sense, the today’s well-known Juilliard got materialized only in 1926 when the Institute of Musical Art got united with the Juilliard Graduate School to create an entity that was named The Juilliard School of Music in 1946 and The Juilliard School only in 1969.

Interestingly, in today’s time Juilliard is committed to bring forth a culture which is truly cosmopolitan and diversified in nature. There are no less than 800 students in the under-graduate and graduate courses put together. What is worth mentioning is that they come from as many as 40 countries of the world and not to forget equally imposing no of states in the United States.

Juilliard has 3 college divisions such as the music, dance and drama. Out of these three divisions, the music division is the largest and the most diversified one in terms of proffering a different kind of courses at different level of study. It trains more than 600 students. The other two dance and drama divisions were started in the year 1951 and 1968 respectively. These two boast of having intake of 90 students each.

The Juilliard School has as many as 115 full-time and 142 part-time faculty members to train these 800 students. These are the world’s most prominent performers and teachers of dance, music and drama. This is nothing but a testimony to Julliard’s quest of impart-ing the best standard of training in the fields of dance, drama and music. So, if you really have an ardent desire for dance, drama and music, the Juilliard School, in New York must be your first and foremost priority.
